According to Daoist philosophy the earth is Yin energy and the Celestial heavens are Yang energy.
Daoists have beautiful, simple yet powerful Qi gong practices that harmonize these energies. It turns out that modern physics is beginning to prove what Daoists knew thousands of years ago. The earth has a bio-magnetic field as does every being in the world. Our bodies have a bio-magnetic field and within our bodies our hearts have their own bio-magnetic field. In fact, every atom in the universe emits their own bio-magnetic field, known as; a torus, toroidal field, magnetic field, or energy field. This toroidal field surrounds every living thing; the sun, each tree, every seed, every beast, even a hurricane; everything emits their own torus field and interacts with the toroidal fields of others.
The torus field is the regenerative life flow force that is natures way of creating and sustaining life.
You have likely seen photos of the toroidal field, where the image depicts the bio-magnetic field flowing through a central axis with a vortex at each end and the energy flowing from one vortex out the other then wraps back around itself to the first incoming vortex in a continuous coherent flow. It is quite beautiful.
Qi Gong Toroidal practice allows us to cleanse, regenerate and harmonize our bio-magnetic fields within and without.
My introduction to the Qi Gong Toroidal Field practice came through introduction to Lindsey Wei , (Wei Cheng Ling, 24th Generation Cun Yang Sect of Wudang Daoism) by my first my BaguaZhang teacher Alex Kozma. Lindsey had written a book called The Valley Spirit about her journey into the world of Daoist grandmaster, Li Song Feng of The Five Immortals Temple on the highest peak of the Wudang Mountains. It was clear that Lindsey was a special soul, engaging fully into the whole system of Daoist practice, Qi Gong and martial art. When Lindsey began offering online courses, I jumped at the opportunity to learn from her. I took a Heaven and Earth QiGong that included, standing qigong meditations and the Toroidal Field practice. I have done various standing QiGong meditations for decades but the Toroidal Field was something I had never even heard of. I looked it up and discovered it referred to the pattern the earth’s bio-magnetic energy created. I immediately recognized the photos of the torus outlining the energetic flow in people and the earth. I eagerly engaged in learning the Toroidal Qi Gong practice.
From the moment I began the practice, I had a sense of stillness, peace and unity in a way I had not experienced before.
The more I practiced it the more expansive the experience became. Bio-magnetic fields are part of the unseen world that we live in. Waves and particles, atoms, protons, electrons, quarks and the tiniest quantum particles are fascinating, as is the space between them. The sameness of everything and the uniqueness of the individual expressions of that sameness.
“When one tugs at a single thing in nature, he finds it attached to the rest of the world.” John Muir
When we are with others, our toroidal fields interact. When we sit with our pets, our fields interact. When we sit by ourselves our fields are still interacting with the energetic fields of trees, plants, our earth planet, any field that touches ours. Qi Gong Toroidal practice allows us to clear, regenerate and harmonize our bio-magnetic fields within and without.
Scientists measured the hearts powerful bio-magnetic field and discovered it can extend up to a five-mile radius beyond the heart and produce up to 60 times the amplitude than that of the brain. The heart contains 40,000 neurons (called neurites) that can communicate more information to the brain than the brain can to the heart. It has its own memory system and ability to process information. Our emotions and our thoughts effect our hearts magnetic field which in turn energetically effects our body field and any other fields in our environment, whether we are conscious of it or not. (HeartMath research center). We are not just all connected, we are connecting all the time, and with everything and affecting each other and our environment with our states of being, our choices and our thoughts. It explains a common phenomenon when someone smiles, most often those close-by will smile as well.
“The self in a toroidal universe can be both separate and connected with everything else.” Arthur Young
Knowing the regenerative nature of our toroidal field and how interactive, connected and connecting it is, then balancing and aligning our toroidal fields with ourselves, others and with nature makes sense. Bio-magnetic fields are part of the unseen world that we live in. The unseen world is where the subtle energies, our intuition and our mystical experiences live. Waves and particles, atoms, protons, quarks and the tiniest quantum particles are fascinating, as is the space between them. The sameness of everything and the uniqueness of the individual expressions of that sameness.
“We look rather different from a tree. Without a doubt we perceive the world different than a tree does. But down deep, at the molecular heart of life, the trees and we are essentially identical.” Carl Sagan
Years ago, when I wrote The Incidental Guru; Lessons in Healing from a Dog, I wrote about becoming the stillness in the centre of the storm. At the very core of the Torus field is this place of perfect stillness; the zero-point field, where there is nothing, yet every potential exists.
The torus field embodies this place of stillness with everything around it flowing in coherent motion with the central shaft in stillness.
Like the centre of a hurricane, becoming centered is something many people talk about, and I have spoken about it, but how much do we even understand just how profound a place stillness is? How many of us really experience it. So many family members, friends and clients say “I’m too scattered, or busy, or my mind is too busy to be still.” But to hear the call of your own heart, one needs to find stillness. To hear its inner-wisdom, some regular time in stillness and flow needs to happen.
The busier the life and the mind, the more a place of stillness calls us.
It may take time for some of us to find a meditation style, moving, standing or seated that can open the gates of the flow statefor us to enter. Many athletes, musicians and other artists find their gate to a flow state through their art or practice. To enter higher states of consciousness finding stillness within is necessary.
The Qi Gong exercise, I learned from Lindsey, to harmonize our own toroidal fields and our field with that other fields and that of the earth, takes us to that remarkable place of regeneration, creativity and harmony with all.
